Frank Edwards, born Frank Ugochukwu Edwards on July 22, 1989, is one of Nigeria’s most influential contemporary gospel artists. Originally from Enugu State, he is a celebrated singer, songwriter, music producer, and the founder of Rocktown Records, an independent gospel music label dedicated to discovering and mentoring emerging talents. He is also a prominent member of the Christ Embassy music ministry and serves in the Presidential Band under Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
Growing up in a family of seven children, Frank discovered his passion for music at an early age. He began singing at the age of ten and learned to play the piano from his father. Over time, he developed proficiency in several musical instruments, including the keyboard, guitar, and drums. During his teenage years, he became a born-again Christian, a decision that would shape both his life and his music ministry.
Frank Edwards officially launched his music career in 2008 with the release of his debut album, The Definition, a 14-track project that introduced his unique sound to the gospel music scene. He followed this success with Angels on the Runway in 2010, and in 2011 released Unlimited and Tagjam, further establishing himself as one of Africa’s leading gospel musicians. His music is widely recognized for its inspiring messages and its distinctive blend of worship, contemporary gospel, hip-hop, and energetic praise.
Beyond his personal success, Frank has made significant contributions to the growth of gospel music through Rocktown Records, where he has nurtured and promoted talented artists such as Gil Joe and Nkay. His commitment to excellence and innovation has helped shape the modern Nigerian gospel music industry.
Throughout his career, Frank Edwards has received numerous awards and honors in recognition of his outstanding impact. Among his notable achievements are Male Artist of the Year at the 2013 African Gospel Music Awards, Best Gospel Rock Artiste, and West Africa Best Male Vocalist. Today, he remains one of Africa’s most respected gospel ministers, inspiring millions around the world through his music, ministry, and unwavering dedication to spreading the message of Christ.
